Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands has an estimated population of 850,000 and boasts the highest mountain range in Spanish territory (Mount Teide the extinct volcano) reaching 3718 metres the third largest volcanoe in the world. Its Peak can be seen from all around the Canary Islands.

The scenery at Mount Teide is spectacular where it has been a featured back drop in famous movies like Star Wars, Planet of the Apes and the Ten Commandments.

Tenerife has a very diverse climate as Mount Teide splits the Island in two, with the north being cooler and wetter and the south very dry and parched.

The more popular resorts are down on the southern coast, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos being the main ones where temperatures are higher.
